Learn how to observe the Moon through telescopes and with the naked eye. All participants will receive a lunar chart and instructions on how to use it. Learn about the phases of the Moon in the Planetarium, visit the Science in Motion gallery to learn how we got to the Moon, and visit the Observatory to view the Moon through the telescope.

* This workshop will happen rain or shine. In case of inclement weather, the Observatory will be limited to tours only. The Observatory is not heated or air-conditioned so please dress accordingly.

Come join the fun learning all about minerals! What in the world is Moh’s Hardness Scale? How do you identify minerals? This workshop includes hands-on activities and take-home specimens to help you learn the basics of minerals, from the various optical properties to the basic crystal structure. Space is limited so make your reservations early!

FOR AGES 8 AND UP, NO EXCEPTIONS

Through a partnership with NASA, the Harvard Observatory, the Smithsonian Institution, and Tellus, you can become an at home astronomer. All you need is a computer and access to the internet. This workshop will begin with an introductory tour of exoplanets. Then, learn how to interpret images from our partner’s robotic telescopes to possibly find new planets. Finish the evening observing the wonders of the night sky through our telescope in the Observatory.
