Not all of NASA’s major discoveries were made in outer space. Many of the items and technologies that we use every day right here on Earth were originally developed for use in space exploration.

Athletic equipment, insulated firefighting gear, artificial heart pumps, and fuel-saving innovations for aircraft and trucks are just a few things that have sprung out of NASA’s space programs.

Our new temporary exhibition, Space Spinoffs, explores ways that we have benefited from space-age technology. Discover how space exploration has changed life on Earth while we work to explore our solar system.

Space Spinoffs located in the special exhibit gallery in the Science in Motion Gallery.
