
SUMMARY: Assist the Director of Marketing in promoting the museum to help achieve goals in attendance, programming, social media presence, and brand recognition.
This position requires a hands-on person who can work independently with minimal support, but can also work well within a team. The ideal candidate shows initiative, is good at foreseeing and resolving issues, and is excited to learn new things.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Communicate event information to online event listing sites, media relations, and social media platforms.
- Assist with social media management, specifically with Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube.
- Assist with the execution of marketing campaigns.
- Assist with writing, scheduling, and facilitating productions of radio, TV, digital, social content, and print ads and materials.
- Conduct audience research using onsite or electronic surveys and/or coordinate with volunteers to conduct onsite surveys.
- Compile survey feedback into composite reports to be used for benchmarking, demographic studies, event research, and general visitor information to help make strategic marketing decisions.
- Help maintain the Museum’s website and ensure it is kept up-to-date.
- Manage inventory and distribution of all onsite marketing collateral pieces.
- Fulfill requests for ticket donations.
- Manage, create, and schedule e-news communications to the museum database and staff news as necessary.
- Assist with promoting the Georgia Museums brand and communications, including the GMI staff newsletter and other projects as assigned.
- Help develop and maintain strong relationships with media contacts to ensure media coverage of significant museum events and exhibits.
- Be responsible for ensuring high standards of professionalism in all areas of responsibility.
- Remain current on pertinent museum industry policies, laws, and accepted practices through involvement in industry trade groups and ongoing professional development.
- Perform other tasks and projects as requested by supervisor.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Two-year college degree and/or education experience preferred or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience with various social media platforms, WordPress, Adobe, and Microsoft Word preferred.
This position requires excellent verbal and written communication skills. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. Must be able to sit, walk, and/or stand for extended periods of up to 8 hours. Must be able to see full-color spectrum. Manual dexterity, keyboarding skills, and ability to easily grasp new concepts and tasks is a must.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Valid Driver’s License
WORK ENVIRONMENT: Museum and office environment, non-standard hours, generally between 8:00am to 6:00pm, Monday through Friday, extended hours and weekends may be required depending on event and exhibit schedules. Noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate.
