Collecting seashells on the beaches of Florida can be fun, but did you know you can collect fossils all across the state? Since Florida was once completely covered by ocean, many fossils can still be found on land!

Tellus Science Museum recently acquired two donations that contained hundreds of fossil invertebrate species from Sarasota, Florida. Curator Ryan Roney will share the stories that these fossils tell – what was the environment like millions of years ago, which species went extinct, which species are still around today, and who hunted whom.

STAY + EXPLORE!

Tellus Educators will host special activities for students after each Lunch + Learn.

The Lunch + Learn lecture begins at 12:15 PM. No outside food is allowed but you are welcome to buy lunch in the Café and bring it into the lecture, or just come hear the lecture. All Lunch + Learns are FREE for members and included in regular admission for non-members. Presentations are recommended for ages 8 and up, unless otherwise indicated.

From fossils to stars, Lunch and Learn features a wide variety of topics.

If you can’t make it in person, be sure to check out the live stream on YouTube!
