Wild About Weather
Saturday, July 16, 2022
10 AM - 4 PM
A full day of family fun!
Learn how to make clouds in a bottle, make a cloud viewer to help you identify clouds, experiment with shadows, and learn about star formation. Make a solar bead bracelet and learn how we harness solar energy in the Solar House. Georgia Tech Research Institute (GTRI) will be on hand with homemade electroscopes, infrasound sensors, and more. Our friends at WSB will also be at the museum with their “Weather Chaser” vehicle (weather permitting) for you to check out!
In the Theater, we will have two special lectures. At 11 AM, scientists from GTRI’s Severe Storm Research Center will present new ways to predict and understand severe weather in Georgia. At 1 PM, join WSB-TV’s Meteorologist Glenn Burns in the Theater for a special lecture about thunderstorms, the science of lightning, and predictions for this year’s hurricane season. In the Bentley Planetarium, our shows will highlight weather throughout the solar system.
