Come experience the stars of Tellus Science Museum! During the Night Sky program, Cadettes will work toward the requirements of the Night Owl badge, while Senior girls will do activities for the Sky badge. While at Tellus, girls will tour the night sky in the planetarium and investigate eclipses, seasons and seasonal constellations. Scouts will learn how to make and use a rotary star chart, find the major constellations, and find planet positions in the Tellus planetarium. Other activities will include learning how to tell time using the sky, learning how to use a telescope and viewing sunspots (weather permitting).

1st Rotation: Watch a live planetarium show.
2nd Rotation: Star wheel activity in the presentation theater.
3rd Rotation:
– Moon Phase activity in Lab 4
– Solar Observation or view images if cloudy in Lab 3
All groups end at the store where Tellus patches are available for purchase.

Focus on the night sky: Identify 10 constellations and 8 stars. Find and use the North Star. Investigate the colors of the sky, why is the sky blue, what color is the Sun.

Visit a planetarium; Take a guided tour of the sky, find out more about the planets, stars and the solar system.
