Visitor Information
The museum is open seven days a week, Monday-Sunday 10 AM – 5 PM. We are closed on these major holidays: New Year’s Day, Fourth of July, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day.

Note: Some GPS and online map systems have Tellus located on Mineral Museum Drive. The road is now named Tellus Drive.

We are proud to be a Blue Star Museum. This program provides free museum admission to active-duty military personnel and their immediate families. The Blue Star Museum program begins on Armed Forces Day (May 18, 2024) and continues each year through Labor Day (Monday, September 2, 2024). It includes Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force, Space Force, and National Guard Reserves. Blue Star Family members must show their Geneva Convention Common Access Card (CAC), DD Form 1173 ID (dependent), or DD1173-1 identification card.

PHOTOGRAPHY
Still and video photography is permitted for personal and educational use only. Unless otherwise posted, photography is permitted in the exhibit galleries. Tripods are not permitted inside the museum building unless permission is granted by the museum. Exceptions may occur; please inquire at the museum’s Front Desk.
TIPS ON VISITING
No outside food (snacks, bag lunches) or drink is allowed in the museum.
The museum has a Café where items may be purchased and consumed.
Please consider leaving large items such as backpacks in your vehicle.
Lockers are available to check smaller items.
Guests under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult to visit the museum.
Tobacco, including smoking and the use of smokeless tobacco, electronic cigarettes or vaping devices is prohibited in the museum and on the museum grounds. Tellus is a tobacco-free campus.
Tellus is a weapons-free facility. Firearms, weapons, and explosives are prohibited.
Pets (except service animals) are not permitted in the museum.
Strollers are permitted in the museum. Stroller parking is available in certain areas.
Wheelchairs are available on a first come first serve basis.
Enhance your visit! Download your Fossil Hunting License and Gemstone Treasure Map before your visit and set off on a scavenger hunt. Please note, weekday hours for Gem Panning + Fossil Dig are 12 – 5 PM from January to May.
MUSEUM ACCESSIBILITY
Tellus Science Museum meets ADA requirements, and strives to provide a user-friendly environment in its accommodations for people who have disabilities. The Museum is one level, with ground level entrance from the parking lot and no steps to our exhibits. A limited number of wheelchairs are available on a first come first serve basis. A family bathroom is available, and the Museum has a Quiet Room for when a visitor needs sensory relief. For guests who need additional accommodations, please contact Guest Services at (770) 606-5700.
