FIELD TRIPS
Our field trips are designed to provide a high standard of engaging science education for students of all ages. Each of our programs are aligned to meet or exceed Georgia Standards of Excellence.
REGISTRATION OPEN FOR SCHOOL YEAR 2024 – 25!
WHAT TO EXPECT
Each program has four rotations:
- Lab
- Activity
- Museum Store
- Explore One Gallery
- Program length is 2 hours; 30-minutes per rotation.
- Minimum of 15 students required.
- Due to space limitations, prior arrangement with our scheduling department must be made before increasing your student numbers.
- Due to space limitations, parents may be asked to self-tour the museum during portions of the program rotations.
- Programs are based on Georgia Standards of Excellence that augment your classroom instruction. It is not a tour of the entire museum.
- After the program, if you have time, you are welcome to visit other areas of the museum that you did not experience during your program.
PRICES
- Student – $12 (15 student minimum)
- Museum membership does not cover field trip costs for students.
- Adults and siblings do not count toward the 15 student minimum.
- Educators and bus drivers – FREE (must wear school identification with scheduled programs).
- Parents and chaperones – One FREE with every 10 students.
- Additional parents and chaperones – $20 each.
- Add-on planetarium show – $2.50 per person.
- Everyone pays $2.50, including teachers and chaperones.
- The planetarium has 120 seats. Students have first priority for seating, then educators, then chaperones, then parents.
- Science in Motion programs include the planetarium.

CHECK-IN
- Arrive 30 minutes prior to your program’s scheduled start time to check in and to afford your students a restroom break.

The front desk will need:
- Number of students.
- Number of teachers.
- Number of parents you are covering in your school payment.
- Your program manager will make contact approximately one week prior to your visit to advise you on how to split your group into subgroups and to give you other details for your check-in.
- Every individual (student, parent, educator) needs a program sticker before leaving the lobby.
- Bus drivers must stay on campus and be able to be reached in case of an emergency.
PAYMENT
- Payment is due upon arrival; we accept check from school, cash, or credit card.
- One person must check in and pay for the entire group and use one form of payment.
- You may pay for extra parents and chaperones or they may pay individually.
LUNCH
- Leave lunches on the bus.
- Outdoor picnic pavilion is located at bus parking.
- Box lunches are available for purchase from our café to eat in our pavilion. Contact the café at least one week in advance, (770) 606-5700, ext. 418.
- Depending on availability, an unfurnished room is available for indoor lunches for a $250 non-refundable fee.
DEPOSIT
- $100 non-refundable deposit is required 4 weeks prior to your scheduled visit.
- Your deposit will be applied to your final payment and balance is due upon arrival.
SELF-TOURING
- Self-Touring, without a guide and without booking a program, is available for groups; however, the preceding rates and information will not apply to those groups.

PHOTOGRAPHY
- Still and video photography is permitted for personal and educational use only. Unless otherwise posted, photography is permitted in the exhibit galleries. Tripods are not permitted inside the museum building unless permission is granted by the museum. Exceptions may occur; please inquire at the museum’s Front Desk.
PARKING
- Free parking.
