Donate to Collections
Containing over 17,000 objects, the museum collections are continually expanded and enhanced through generous collections donations and financial support. Primarily, Tellus seeks out museum-quality minerals, fossils, and technology materials and library materials from Georgia and the Southeast to preserve Georgia’s geologic history, to provide exceptional exhibits for the community, and to provide research opportunities through the study collection.
The collections are used to create permanent exhibits in the museum as well as travel traveling exhibits both regionally and nationally, including the Tucson Gem & Mineral Show.
ENHANCE EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS
Tellus provides many educational opportunities at the museum and within the community using specimens from the museum’s educational collections.
The 2016 update of Minerals of Georgia provides detailed information describing minerals and their localities in the state. Many of the information sources are found in the Tellus Library, and many of the photographed specimens are part of the Tellus collections.
