
SUMMARY: Learn and conduct educational and enrichment programs for students, scouts, adults and other museum guests in fields of geology, general science, astronomy and/or transportation.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Conduct educational and enrichment programs for students, scouts, adults and other clients.
- Restock and/or replace expendable program supplies.
- Assist with museum special events, lectures, outreach etc. as scheduled.
- Maintain a positive attitude and the ability to adapt to changes in daily itinerary on short notice.
- Arrive on time, at least 30 minutes before a program begins or as directed.
- Be willing to learn new information on an ongoing basis, through hands on experiences.
- Be comfortable with public speaking.
- Work with/as a team; be flexible, sociable, pleasant and respectful.
- Provide excellent customer service.
- Ensure that employees understand the mission and goals of the museum, maintain building and collection security, maintain building cleanliness, handle and care for the collection appropriately, and project a warm and friendly attitude toward guests and fellow staff.
- Be responsible for ensuring high standards of professionalism in all areas of responsibility.
- Ongoing professional development.
- Perform other tasks and projects as requested by supervisor.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Four-year college degree and two years education experience preferred or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Excellent verbal communication skills, ability to interact with students, positive attitude and flexibility are required.
CERTIFICATES, LISCENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Driver’s License
WORK ENVIRONMENT: Museum and office environment, non-standard hours, generally within 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM, Monday through Friday, extended hours and weekends required on a regular and/or rotating basis. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
