Daisies, Brownies, & Juniors: Night Sky

Registration for this program closes at noon on Thursday, November 5, 2020 or when the program reaches maximum capacity.

Come experience the stars of Tellus Science Museum! During the Night Sky program, Daisies, Brownies, and Juniors will work toward the requirements of the Space Science Explorer,  Space Science Adventurer, and Space Science Investigator badges (respectively).  While at Tellus, scouts will tour the night sky in the planetarium and learn about the major constellations of each season, like Orion, Big Dipper, Polaris, and Cassiopeia.  Scouts will learn how to make and use star wheels, make a model solar system, and investigate Moon phases. Other activities will include learning how to use a telescope and viewing the Moon, the Sun, and sunspots (weather permitting).

Program will consist of 3 rotations 50 minutes each, 10 scouts/adults per group.

Groups A and B Live Planetarium show 50 min. (30 scouts/adults)

Group A (30 scouts/adults): Star wheel activity in big theater – 50 min.
Group B (30 scouts/adults):
– Moon Phase Activity in Lab 4 – 25 min. (10 scouts/adults)
– Solar observation/ or power point images if cloudy in Lab 3 – 25 min. (10 scouts/adults)

Group B (10 scouts/adults): Star wheel and solar system activity in big theater – 50 min.
Group A (30 scouts/adults):
– Moon Phase & Spacecraft Activity in Lab 4 – 50 min. (10 scouts/adults)
– Solar observation/ or power point images if cloudy in lab 3 – 50 min. (10 scouts/adults)

All groups end at the store where Tellus patches are available for purchase.

SPACE SCIENCE EXPLORER REQUIREMENTS
